OLN Students Put their Limits to the Test

Our Lady of the Nativity Lawson - Cross Country Carnival

Student Media Team

Our School carnival where students participate in middle distance running races.

On a beautiful misty mountain morning Our Lady of the Nativity school were finally able to hold our annual Cross Country Carnival.

Each year we gather together and cheer on our fellow students (especially those in our colour house) and celebrate fun and fitness.  The Cross County is also run select students to represent our School at the Zone Carnival at Eastern Creek in Term 2.

Our carnival began with a prayer and team cheers. All teams were in great voice, each receiving 50 points to start us off. The Year 1 students were first to race, followed by the Kindergarten and Year 2 students. Then it was time for the older students to run the longer distances. The cheers from the audience nearly lifted the roof. Most students say that it was great fun but also very exhausting work.

Mr Wedesweiler said:

“Considering the weather we have had it was great to get out and run on a dry track. This is my 8th school and this is one of the best Cross Country events, the students enthusiasm and parent support is unmatched.”

“What a wonderful day we’re had at our cross country carnival. The weather was  perfect, the sports captains gave 100% in organising and helping, the parents gave up their precious time to keep us safe along the track, the students did their personal best, our team of teachers helped things run smoothly, and we had fun in the most beautiful environment, what a brilliant place OLN is!”

A big thanks to our volunteer parents, Mr Hortense and Mr Wedesweiler for your work organising and running the carnival we would not been able to have such as great carnival without you.

Red House Captains, Lillie Hughes and Ashley Retmock said:

“The day was fabulous, it was definitely an experience worth having, to lead our team to victory in our first sporting event of 2017.”

Finally a big CONGRATULATIONS to the Red team for being this year's winning team, closely followed by the Blue and Green teams.
